Start Something New Today: How God Inspired Me to Start a Blog

God has inspired me to start something new, and it is time that I listened.

I have known God to speak to me and those around me in various ways. He chooses a variety of melodies to sing His sweet songs so we can train our ears and hearts to hear Him often and everywhere. God also uses different methods to preach us the same message in case we weren’t listening the first few times. When God repeats Himself, He’s saying “Listen. Pay attention. Open your heart to my words.”

Over and over He says things like:

Do Not be

“Do not be afraid.”

“…the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: ‘Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.”

Genesis 15:1, NIV

“The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”

Psalm 118:6, NIV

Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.”

Matthew 10:31, ESV

Praise the LordforHe is worthy.

“Praise the Lord for He is worthy.”

“For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods.”

1 Chronicles 16:25, NIV

Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.”

Psalm 145:3, NIV

“In a loud voice they were saying: ‘Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!”

Revelation 5:12, NIV

tough (3)

“Things might get tough but God always has a plan.”

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.

Psalm 37:7, NIV

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Romans 8:28, NIV

“For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”

2 Corinthians 4:17, NIV

What He is Saying Now

I’ve also discovered recently that sometimes, He says things like “Start something new and different.” That’s the message that led to the words on this page. After a couple months of Him placing the idea in my head nearly every other day, I finally decided to start a blog. This is my new and different. It’s almost as though God has spoken these words to me from the prophets of long ago:

“‘See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.’”

Isaiah 43:19, NIV

It’s going to be a journey for me (and for you readers!) as I share the words with which God has gifted me. The goal is to share what He has placed on my heart in the hopes that it will strike a chord in yours. And as a final note, I’d like to share with you the meaning behind the name of this blog. Because you and me, this community of believers, we are the lovely ones.

Why “Lovely Ones”?

Lovely is probably my favorite word. There’s almost no other word to describe how it sounds to me other than the word itself. I have become passionate about this word “lovely”, and will share deeper thoughts on it in a different post. For now, know that the reason I chose “We Are the Lovely Ones” as the title for my blog is because God has called us each for a purpose: to be someone, to do something, to spread His Good News. He has also Some of the most beautiful names He uses are Beloved (Colossians 3:12), Chosen (1 Peter 2:9), and Redeemed (Galatians 3:13). He has created us in His own image, the perfect image of all loveliness, and gifted us with the opportunity to be His forever. God chooses to love us unreservedly, because He believes we are worth it. He believes we are the lovely ones, and we are so because He has made us so.

And that, my dear friends, is why I have deigned to begin a blog. I couldn’t do it with God’s leading or without the constant support of those around me. I look forward to continuing this journey with you. Remember that we are the lovely ones, and have a lovely day!
